“Japan Life with Seibu”

私たちは全ての人が住みやすい場所を目指しています。

What motivated you to come to Japan and what was the purpose of your stay?

I learned from my Japanese teacher in Bangladesh that Japan is a safe and pleasant country to live in. I also heard from many other teachers about the high-quality education available in Japan. With a desire to learn various things, I started thinking about studying abroad. So, when I got the opportunity, I decided to come to Japan for my studies.

How long have you been living in Japan?

I began attending a Japanese language school in Hiroshima in April 2021. After studying there for a year, I advanced to a vocational school in Takadanobaba, from April 2022 to March 2023. However, the high cost of rent was always a concern for me. I eventually decided to move to Saginomiya with a friend. After relocating to Saginomiya, I started a part-time job at a convenience store. Even so, the anxiety over renting a room persisted. It was then that I utilized the guarantee from GTN to secure a place. With assistance from the Lifestyle Support Department, I was able to begin my new life with confidence.

Why did you choose to live along the Seibu Line?

At first, based on the advice of the real estate agent assisting me in my search, I thought it was a bit far. However, when they showed me the map and explained, I realized it was actually close to my school and that I could afford the rent there. Additionally, the student commuter passes were reasonably priced, which added to its appeal. Consequently, I decided on that particular place.

Do you have a favorite spot near Saginomiya Station?

Yes, I really do! There’s this lovely river close to the station surrounded by nature, and I can’t help but admire the view whenever I pass by. I also frequently visit the sports center near the station to work out at the gym. It’s a great way to refresh after a day. While living here is quite different from Bangladesh, it feels genuinely comfortable. I’ve come to really appreciate and enjoy this area.

What do you like about living along the Seibu Line?

Living along the Seibu Line is generally very convenient. However, I believe if they could add a few more express trains, it would enhance the convenience even further. And, on a personal note, I’ve always wanted to take the Seibu Line all the way to its last stop and enjoy some sightseeing en route.

Do you have any advice for those considering coming to Japan in the future?

Certainly! I’d strongly recommend brushing up on your Japanese before you arrive. When you can’t communicate effectively, it can become a source of anxiety, and there might be days where things just don’t go smoothly. While mastering the language might be challenging, the rewards and sense of achievement are well worth the effort. And if you’re deciding on a place to live, I must put in a good word for life near Saginomiya Station! All the best and good luck on your journey!
