“Japan Life with Seibu”

私たちは全ての人が住みやすい場所を目指しています。

What motivated you to come to Japan and what was the purpose of your stay?

I wanted a fresh adventure and to experience a culture different from Zimbabwe. Japan caught my eye, especially because I’m fond of some characters from here. While the cultures of Zimbabwe and Japan are vastly different, and I was the only one from my group to make the move, my urge to embrace new challenges drove me to choose Japan.

How long have you been living in Japan?

I moved to Japan in August 2022, so I’ve been here for over a year now. Adapting was a bit challenging at times, especially with the cost of living being higher compared to Zimbabwe.

Why did you choose to live along the Seibu Line?

I came across a property on the Seibu Line that I instantly fell in love with. I had heard about the Seibu Line on social media before. I’m still smitten with the colors of the walls, the kitchen, and the layout of my place. It’s made even cozier with my favorite furniture.

What do you like about the station near where you live?

Around the station, there are many restaurants, so there’s always something new to try. For groceries, there are affordable supermarkets and local shops close by, making shopping easy. I’ve also noticed quite a few foreigners in the area, and seeing and greeting African families, in particular, gives me a sense of comfort.

Any favorite spots around the station where you live?

I really like the pharmacy and the coin parking near my house. At the pharmacy, I have fun searching for the perfect cosmetics for my skin, and I often get lost in the hunt. As for the coin parking, there’s this nutcracker that’s always there – it’s quirky and I’ve grown quite fond of it.

I’ve heard you take the Seibu Line to get to school. Is it a convenient line to use?

Absolutely, the Seibu Line is really convenient because it covers long distances. I’m especially fond of Higashifushimi Station; it has a unique vibe compared to other stations. I haven’t had the chance to visit Tokorozawa Station yet, but I’m hoping to check it out soon.

What do you love most about Japan?

I’m a fan of the huge variety of potato chip flavors they have here!
